HAIRCARE TIPS AND TRICKS FOR BEAUTIFUL HAIR

Hair is one of the essential parts of the beauty regime. Many people suffer from dull, greasy, frizzy hair, hair loss, and many other hair related problems. You can treat these problems, if you take right care of your hair, eat healthily and live healthily. Some tips for healthy and beautiful hair are discussed in this article.

1.   Shampooing Hair: Make sure your hair is totally damp when you apply shampoo on it. Take a required amount of shampoo in your palm and dilute it with a little water. Then apply it to your scalp and massage scalp with fingertips; do not use nails. No matter how greasy your hair is, only apply shampoo to your scalp. Applying shampoo towards the ends will make hair dull and dry. Keep shampoo for 3-5 mins before washing it. Do not shampoo your hair every day. Wash it after 2 to 7 days as you need. Over shampooing will rip off your natural hair oil making it more dull and greasy. Try to use organic shampoos, use sulfate free, paraben free shampoos etc. Rotate between 2-3 different shampoos and that will make shampoos more effective on your hair. Once in a while try to use a clarifying shampoo.

2.     Conditioning Hair:  Use conditioner after every time you shampoo and try to use organic conditioners. If possible use same line shampoo and conditioner. Use conditioners away from the scalps, and concentrate more towards the ends. Keep it for like 3 to 10 minutes. Use a deep conditioner once a week or once in 2 weeks. When choosing shampoo and conditioner, choose according to your hair type.

3.    Drying Hair: Squeeze excessive water from your hair and wrap it with a towel. Do not rub wet hair with a towel, it will give you split ends, dry and frizzy hair. For better absorption and better results you can also use a clean t-shirt to wrap your hair. Do not brush your hair when it is wet, use a wide toothed comb. Start combing from the ends, detangle all hair, and then comb it from the top.

4.    Leave-In Conditioners: Use a leave in conditioners from a drug store or salon according to your hair type, and according to the place where you live like hot, cold, or windy. You can also use light oils like argan, jojoba, almond, macadamia, coconut, and much more. After washing your hair, in a damp hair apply leave in conditioners or oil of your choice to your hair length concentrating towards the tips of your hair.

5.     Heat and Styling: Try to air dry your hair if you can. If you have to use a blow dryer always use it in a cool setting and few inches away from your head. You can use a comb while blow drying, it will make hair more manageable and dries faster. Try to avoid heat styling tools like flat irons, curling irons etc. as much as you can. If you had to use them, always use a heat protectant spray or creme before using them. If your hair can adjust, try to keep them in low heat setting, and do it faster. Keeping heating tools longer in your hair can burn and damage your hair.

6.      Hair Treatment: Try to do hair treatment once a week if you can. You can do hot oil hair treatments, or prepare any homemade hair mask. Apply oils like coconut oil, almond oil, castor oil, sesame oil, mustard oil etc. to hair, massage it and wash it after 1 hour or after overnight. DIY hair masks like avocado, egg white, coconut milk, or any other your mother’s or grandmother's favorite hair recipe. You can go to a salon for it, also use hair treatment masks available in the market. I will suggest you keep away from unnecessary and harmful chemicals, and use homemade treatments. Homemade treatments are much more effective than those found in the drug stores or salon.

7.   Cutting Hair: Trim your hair every 3 to 6 months, to get rid of split ends. A haircut should be done by professionals. If you want to do it yourself, then use scissors meant for hair cutting. Do not use your kitchen scissors or paper cutting scissors. Try to keep away from razors, they tend to give split ends more quickly.

8.    Everyday Hair: Brush or comb your hair every day. Try to keep your hair in a bun or in a braid. Do not do tight hairstyles and tight ponytails. Do not use too much hair products. If you had to, then wash it after you are done for the day. Try to avoid the sun and the wind. Wear hats or scarfs or put your hair in buns or in braids. Tie hair loosely or keep it in braid while sleeping. Try to use non-static pillow covers like silk pillow cases. Do not use too much chemical treatment in your hair like keratin treatment, coloring and highlighting hair. Try to find natural solutions.

9.   Diet and Exercise: Keep yourself hydrated. Eat raw veggies and fruits, and keep yourself active. Eat foods like salmon, nuts, eggs, sweet potatoes, spinach, lentils, Greek yogurt, blueberries, meat etc. If you need, you can take supplements like biotin, omega 3, cod liver oil, etc.

10.  Other Instructions: Maintain hygiene of your hair and hair products. Use clean towel or t-shirt, wash your brush and comb regularly. Keep your hair products in the clean area, away from sunlight, heat, and water. If your hair has extreme conditions seek the help of a dermatologist before it’s too late.
